Influenced by his own insomnia, Edo Zollo<\/a> was compelled to approach street photography with a twist. He captured England’s capital in the dead of night. <\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Edo Zollo<\/a> is fascinated by the industrial vibe surrounding the streets of London at night. As the hectic beat of the city quiets down, Edo begins to fill his insomnia with photography. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

While it is normal for the majority of people to stay home in the early hours of the morning, there are a few that take to the streets. Restless people that are affected by insomnia or those with abnormal routines find themselves active at these times. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Edo seeks to add a more cinematic perspective on the otherwise looked upon daunting streets through his project “London After Dark<\/strong><\/em>.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Edo’s fascination with the portrayal of the city at night began when he was working night shifts. Stating that his inner clock is disrupted through the untypical sleeping patterns over the years, he turned his restless boredom into art. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I got bored of staying inside and watching TV, so I started to venture out and make the most of my downtime by playing with photography.<\/p>Edo Zollo via Lens Culture<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

After witnessing the city from a different perspective, Edo became hooked. He got to know a completely different city at night. The sounds, the people, the sights \u2014 it was all a complete counter opposite compared to the day. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The images that Edo captured were taken between midnight up until the early hours of the next day. When exploring the streets Edo usually looks for single street lights, tall buildings, or narrow roads. Once he has found his preferred backdrop, he waits. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“London After Dark<\/strong><\/em>” shows Edo’s attraction to colder colors. Through capturing distinct lines and captivating shadows, he is able to reflect mysterious moods. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

By placing great focus on harsh lines and artificial city glow, his images portray a cinematic tone. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

To me, an impactful image is one that is both interesting to look at and one that brings about an emotional response in the viewer.<\/p>Edo Zollo via Lens Culture<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

With his photo project, Edo aims to create images that are both impactful and ambiguous. He hopes that his work creates an emotional response within the viewer. Edo does not want to give too much of the mystery away in the images he produces. He hopes that different emotions are evoked in everyone. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
