What does it look like to be intimate with someone? How different is photographic love from real love? Photographer Tami Aftab<\/a> unpacks these questions through her photo series, A Life of Brief Encounters. <\/em><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

From Plato’s Lysis, to Billie Eilish’s Ocean Eyes, intimacy has always been the topic of interest to humans. Although we can pretty much agree on how intimacy makes us feel, its characteristics come in many shapes and forms. Sometimes we call it love, and sometimes friendship. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this photo series “A Life of Brief Encounters”, the photographer Tami Aftab <\/a>recreates various facets of intimacy and explores what does being intimate with someone look like. While her photos focus on the intricacy of closeness, some of them were actually interactions between complete strangers. Taken this approach, Tami<\/a> also challenges the common notion of camera as a truth-telling medium, and asks how different is photographic love from real love. We hope you enjoy the photographs as much as we do. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
