The traditions and customs from his home country were the main inspiration for the photographer George Tatakis to start working on CARYATIS.

Greece is home to an abundance of local events that are bound to traditions and customs. Across the four corners of the country a great variety of happenings take place, related either to different times in history or geographic origins.

These events and the tradition around them were the focus of the presented work by George Tatakis, which he entitled CARYATIS.

George Tatakis makes images with a focus on the world that surrounds us. His work has been published internationally in publications such as the National Geographic and George has partnered with brands such as Leica, Canon, Huawei, and UNESCO.

Although having studied and worked as an Engineer, his true passion always lied in art, especially image making. Through his images he intends to express his view of the world and to engineer dreams out of real-life moments. Since 2013 he decided to follow his passion and slowly make the transition to a full-time image making career. Tatakis now documents social events, exhibits his work in institutions such as the Benaki Museum, in downtown Athens, and provides mentoring to amateur and professional photographers.
