This February, we challenged some of our members to open up about Love and some of the most intimate thoughts are now unclosed just in time for the most romantic celebration of the year.
On a regular basis, the Cherrydeck Editorial Team selects a group of excellent professionals on Cherrydeck and highlights their most outstanding work. With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, this time we bring you a bunch of different outlooks to nothing else, but… Love.

We asked photographers from our community to showcase their best work along with their thought on “What Does Love Mean To You?”. We were interested in seeing how their perception of Love might be reflected on their work and photographic representation of the feeling.
Below, we share with you a total of 18 works from 18 talented professionals, together with their interpretations of this deep emotion. Happy Valentine’s Day!
Matt is a photographer shuttling between London and Copenhagen. When asked what love means to him, he was reminded of something he found written in his grandmother’s notebook quoted by Jackson Pollock: “Love is friendship set to music.“
Love, along with the ecstasy and agony it causes, is bottomless inspiration that has fuelled art since art existed. It is a culmination of so many things. Desire, support, respect to name a few, but most importantly is a connection between two people, like two notes harmonising, they ring louder together.

Love is a one way ticket into an experience, which can be good or bad. There’s no love without feelings, there’s no love without crying, there’s no love without putting yourself in the hands of another and just free your body and mind into that trip. Love is to be supportive, love is to be there when you’re needed, love is pain, love is love.

Love is where you feel at home. A person that brings a feeling of peace and calm in your heart. It is a safe place which you can always count on.

Adina loves experimenting with photography while portraying people in different lights. Based in Augsburg, Germany, her take on love doesn’t necessarily involve the romantic feeling between two people.
The first memories that come to my mind when I think about love is me being a child spending time in nature. Just laying in the grass between flowers and bees, all alone looking at the sky. It felt like the earth was hugging me, loving me and I loved it. Besides the love between two people, nature is also love, if you let it love you.

A Caribbean-born, Copenhagen-based author, copywriter, and photographer, Denisse is obsessed with words, people, and imagery, and constantly tries to find ways to make them speak to one another.
The purest and simplest form of empathy and appreciation, for others and for ourselves.

A Belgian documentary photographer, Joris is currently on the road exploring different countries. He documents all his travel experiences in an online journal — a really helpful resource to photographers — and is a true believer in love and life.
No matter what, you have someone to count on. The usual unconditional love that everyone always talks about – cheesy but true. I have realised that it’s equally important to also love yourself and what you’re doing in life. Finding both love for someone and for yourself is pretty much the key to happiness.

Virag is a young photographer from Hungary, who relishes capturing raw emotions. She enjoys traveling and exploring the simple things life has to offer.
Love is raw and candid emotions. They are the ethereal vibrations in their own atmosphere. Love is smiling eyes, slow caressed cheek and small touches. Love is a never-ending obsession with connection. Love is to be complete.

Maria is a portrait and cinematic freelance photographer working in Milan, Italy. Through her photography, she tries to showcase love in a deep sense.
You do not decide the essence of love in photography, it manifests itself: you can indulge it through the choice of a right location, the choice of the right colour palette, but what two bodies in love will do together you can never foresee it.

To me love is the all consuming, overwhelming and often heart palpitating feeling I get when I look at my dog, my boyfriend, and a stack of pancakes.

Lovingly called Swoey, Joel is a photographer and videographer based in Düsseldorf, Germany. With his work, he lays a strong focus on sincere and unadulterated images.
Love is a tingling sensation in my chest — a breath of freedom that makes me want to confess everything, but also the fateful spirit that makes me think about what I say for minutes, hours, or days before I do it at all. Love as I was allowed to see it was painful, wild, unconditional and one of the purest things I could experience.

The Russian photographer Dasha Soft faced various obstacles and career options until she finally pursued her passion for photography. Having tried different genres, she realised she really enjoys capturing real moments.
Love is a sense of inner home. When you are near your loved one, you are at home, wherever you are. This is a deep sense of security and comfort. I realised this when I met my husband.

Love is disrupting your sleep to pick your sister up from the airport at 2 am, it is giving the money you tucked away to buy that new pair of jeans to the guy who stands and begs down the road by the robots instead.

It is letting your lover pursue their dreams over the relationship, it’s falling asleep on the chair next to your grans hospital bed to make sure she feels safe.
It is sacrifice that doesn’t feel like sacrifice.
Tessa is a photographer who often works between the UK and South Africa. She enjoys the feeling of freezing a moment in time and having it as a reminder of who’s, what’s, and where’s.
Is the ever-changing, never-relenting palette of colour that we use to paint the panorama of our lives. It’s the beautiful, messy place somewhere between failure and perfection. And although we try our best to define the concept of what love is or isn’t… at the end of the day it’s the floaty, electric bit right in the middle where the all the good stuff usually happens!
