The artistic priority of Maël G. Lagadec lies in communicating to the heart rather than the mind. This ambition, of portraying sensitivity through photography, has led Maël more prone to capturing moments in the form of portraits. He believes that through seeing someone’s face or hearing their voice, the viewer will build a more emotional attachment.
The photo series, Lunar, by Maël G. Lagadec acts as an exploration of the human psyche within a world of crisis. Lunar depicts an empty space in which two dancers are handling ash and dust, symbolizing regeneration and fertility – plunging the viewer into the reclamation of the body. Maël selectively chose to photograph a man and a woman for this photo series, as two different routes can be shown through their endless efforts.
The encountering of humility, transforms the man into becoming the Creator himself, presenting the relation between heaven and earth. With this, the woman invites the viewer into a state of meditation through the ritualised movement used to present the timeless marriage between the creative forces on Earth and woman honouring them. The balance of both perfectly portrays the creation of sensitivity through photography.
The overall intent of this project is to get the viewers to find themselves within a state of meditation and find themselves encounter the world of sensations, acceptance, and healing. The reality is sublimated towards a fictional narrative directed at awakening memories of our conscious.
My works are subjective journeys from the outside world to the psychic reflection of the inner world.

The monochrome appearance incorporated, as well as the shadows, light, and emptiness purify the overall feel and the interaction between life and death becomes inseparable. The source of perpetual creation and duality is seen as a cycle of complementarity, with one only existing because of the other with the purpose of restarting the life cycle.
