Alyson is an experienced editorial and fine art photographer whose graphic yet keenly observed work has appeared in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and her native South Africa. She has attended the SVA Artist Residency in Fall 2022 and Fall 2023, working on photographic projects exploring the concepts of time and space, interactions with the natural and constructed world, exploring the traces of that which we leave behind, and the concepts of otherness. Smith has exhibited her work in group shows in Cape Town, New York, and Chicago. A recipient of the Master of Professional Studies in Digital Photography from New York’s School of Visual Arts and the Masters in Documentary Arts from the University of Cape Town. She is a director of Latitude Stock photo agency and still also works as an Industrial Psychologist.
