Anna Berkhout (Hoorn, 1993) graduated from the University of Humanistics with a research project on ‘meaning making’ and art. The way art can lead to finding meaning in life, fascinates her immensely. As it does for her. Photography is a second language for Anna. It is the transformation of the everyday into the extraordinary that fascinates her. Convinced that an interesting image doesn’t require a professional camera, Anna takes every shot with her iPhone. Placing an everyday object in a new frame, and thus generating a new view is a never-ending game for her. Anna's work does not enclose a conceptual framework, but it arises as it goes along. While looking at her work, you get to know her fascinations for color, light, form and texture. As the images form a story for her, the viewer can create a story of their own. Through Anna's lens, the everyday becomes an intimate tapestry of personal fascinations, inviting all to partake in this captivating collage.
