Success Stories: The ABOUT YOU Video Campaign for Nike with Kasia and Milana

The assignment

This Spring, ABOUT YOU, was keen on producing video content for their famous ABOUT YOU Awards and promote their cooperation with Nike’s “Find Your Fast” campaign. Featuring influencer Maren Schiller, the goal was to produce a 30-second film with her perspective on what it takes to find your own pace.

The clip was required to be shot exclusively on iPhone and in portrait format for maximum adaption to mobile screens.

Seeking to honor influential social media personalities, the final film was to be shown at the ABOUT YOU Awards — presented annually and hosted by the German online fashion distributor.

The process

ABOUT YOU collaborated with Cherrydeck to find talent to produce video content for the “Find Your Fast” campaign.

Through submitting a briefing — where the shooting location, budget, and other requirements were specified — ABOUT YOU opened a job opportunity on Cherrydeck, for which interested Cherrydeck members could apply with their profile and portfolio.

Kasia Rycerska and Milana Murzo from nobodyreadsthetext_ were the talents selected.

The production

With the fast-approaching ABOUT YOU Award, the schedule was tight. Kasia and Milana were given a day to brainstorm a pitch and had a week to create the storyboard and any pre-production efforts.

The timeframe for the job included one day of filming, followed by three days for editing, sound design, special effects, and final feedback loops.

Shot exclusively on iPhone, the project was unique. Familiar with the procedure and the mixed media approach, Kasia and Milana discovered that a RED camera had to be used to better capture moments where the natural lighting was not ideal.

In general, we think it definitely possible to create projects solely on the iPhone. The RED just has a bit more depth to it, while the iPhone offers you a lot of options in terms of movement and dynamics.

When reflecting on the job, Kasia and Milana state the campaign was different from anything they had previously worked on. Despite the tight deadlines, having the pleasure to work with an outstanding team made the project an absolute joy.

When asked to describe the job experience through Cherrydeck, Kasia and Milana reflect on the pleasant and smooth procedure. With the support and helpful insights of Cherrydeck’s founder and CEO, Philipp, the duo felt taken care of.
