I was born in 1996 in Carrara, a town in Tuscany known for the extraction and processing of marble. The city, which rises along the slopes of the Apuan Alps, spectacularly looks over the sea. Here I knew the voice of the orizon that encourage us to open our mind. In 2015 I moved to Lombardy, carrying the sea inside me with all its sweet but powerful language. If you are born near the sea you can’t easily shrug it off you. I learned about myself and went deeper into emotions that I had previously flown over with the lightness of a seagull in flight and I succeeded in freeing myself from the bonds that were forcing me to adapt. In 2019 I graduated with honors at IED Milan, where I attended the three-year course in Photography. The title of the photographic project I did for my thesis is Alle radici della maestria / At the roots of master craftsmanship (thesis advisor Dr. Angela Madesani). The intent of this project was to show that the traditional craftsmen, who worked Carrara marble following age-old techniques, had not completely disappeared. In fact, they are active even today and their works can still celebrate everlasting existential values. This experience allowed me to understand aspects of the city of which in the past I was unaware and to observe with new eyes the wealth that I had long underestimated. A fascination for Beauty and the desire to create stories for the world is the propelling force behind my urge to photograph. For me Beauty is more than a superficial aspect but, rather, a quality capable of evoking wonder. Music also inspires me and teaches me emotions: I look for musicality in the flow of words and in the harmony of shapes. I take from the world what it offers me, because life is generous and tells stories to patient eyes. I’m interested in the details of reality, in moments of life, in softness of gestures and expressions. I choose, with sensitivity and delicacy, to take pictures of breaks, “times out” or breathers from the world’s frenetic race. White is often present in my photos: it is a promise of freedom and revelation while simultaneously symbolizing purity and a world of opportunities. Photography allows me to take the essence of things and to communicate existential values in their eternity.
