Danny North

With his down-to-earth, friendly manner, London-based portrait photographer Danny North creates images that capture the spirit and energy of the moment. Shooting with film when the occasion allows and often using natural light, Danny works closely with his subjects to achieve images that are authentic and memorable. Key for him is earning his subjects’ trust, and Danny builds rapport with whomever he is photographing whether it’s Lewis Hamilton or local folk on the Hebridean island of Eigg. Skilled at shooting dynamic, high-energy images as well as those that are quieter and more reflective, Danny’s portfolio encompasses everything from narrative-driven environmental portraits to adrenalin-fuelled images of musicians, motorcyclists, and longboarders. Danny’s unique way of seeing the world and his passion for life are always present in the photographs he makes no matter who is in front of his lens. In 2017, two of Danny's images were selected for the Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize at the National Portrait Gallery in London. His work has also appeared in Newsweek, The Guardian, The Independent, and Q Magazine, and commercial clients include Monster Energy, MasterCard, Apple, Interscope, and Capitol Records.
