Ema Flajzarová (Czechia, 2004) is a visual artist and photographer currently based in Reykjavík, Iceland.
Her work has been deeply influenced by growing up in the rural Moravian countryside, surrounded by the forests of the Carpathians and the rolling hills of Moravia. There she developed a strong connection to nature and folklore.
Working across subjective documentary, portraiture, and landscape photography, her practice revolves around the concept of homeland and belonging. Through her enduring relationship with the landscape that shaped her and her experience of living abroad, she explores the question of whether it is possible to create a true home elsewhere, or whether a person remains forever connected to the landscape of their birth.
