Giulia Turri was born and raised in Legnano, Italy, in 1989, where she still currently lives and works between it and Milano. She discovered photography at the age of nine by winning her first camera, playing with a Claw Crane game during summer holidays. From that moment, she never separated herself from the viewfinder. Her mother Cristina, who has always believed in her and supported her dreams, gave a digital camera for her fifteenth birthday. Photography for Giulia has always been necessary to help her stop her point of view, her memory and also as a safety net to escape from a society that she always considered incompatible with her vision of the world. She studied photography at the Riccardo Bauer Institute in Milan and worked as an Photo Assistant for Agostino Osio. In 2010 she attended a training course at the Contrasto Agency, where she came into contact with Efrem Raimondi, with whom she is currently part of the photography laboratory, Isozero Lab. She feels a strong attraction towards everything that has no voice: she photographs the abandoned factories of the Milanese hinterland, the cemeteries in Mexico, the children of the Romanian communities, the inhabitants of the Cameroonian villages in the rainforest. Through these experiences, she develops a strong empathy to social issues. In the last years she has dedicated herself to investigate through photography the most problematic and difficult dynamics related to one's family life.
