Hi! I'm John Watts-Robertson or 'JR' to my friends and associates. My clients call on JR-Photos for a service which is innovative, dependable and has a meticulous eye for detail. Photography is both my lifelong craft and passion. Amongst many awards, my proudest achievement is having been twice voted UK Press Photographer Of The Year. I see photography as a continuous journey, constantly developing new styles and techniques. From humble beginnings as a local newspaper photographer, I have been a regular contributor for the last 25 years to The Guardian, The Telegraph and many other national and international newspapers. Alongside photojournalism, my work includes both still-image and video shoots for commercial, corporate and charitable projects. Although I am based in the East Midlands, I have covered thousands of assignments throughout the UK and abroad. My work has taken me to all kinds of locations and afforded me the opportunity to meet all kinds of people. I've flown with fighter pilots, chased baby crocodiles, and had tea with terrorists (thankfully, not all on the same day!). I am well-adapted to photographing difficult people and sensitive subjects, getting the best out of them in often limited timeframes. As an experienced photographer I enjoy sharing my knowledge and inspiring others. I am proud to be an ambassador for Manfrotto and write regularly for the Manfrotto School of Xcellence as well as on my own blog. I have mentored up and coming students, many of whom have gone on to become successful photographers.
