My name is Mark Odumuyiwa, formerly known as Mark Khan, I’m a Nigerian-American multi-disciplinary artist currently based in Brooklyn, NY, and Minneapolis, MN. My work is a dynamic exploration of narratives that challenge conventional ideas and introduce fresh perspectives on the Black gaze, masculinity, the African diaspora, family, and race. My artistic vision is deeply influenced by my Nigerian and American heritage. In addition to my conceptual and storytelling pieces, I also delve into the world of fashion photography. Through this medium, I strive to redefine societal standards of beauty by featuring non-traditional faces, pushing boundaries, and expanding the horizons of visual representation. In 2019, I embarked on a new creative journey by establishing my own clothing brand, Universal Rejects. This venture serves as another canvas for me to convey the stories and experiences of the African diaspora that hold a special place in my heart, bringing these narratives to life through clothing and fashion. My artistic pursuits are driven by a relentless passion for storytelling and a commitment to showcasing the diverse, intricate tapestry of Black culture and identity. Through my work, I aim to provoke thought, spark conversations, and contribute to the ongoing dialogue surrounding these vital themes. Don't hesitate to get in touch!
