Paula Faraco (Brazil 1985), photographer, lived and worked for 10 years in Berlin. Since a year, she divides herself between the German capital and the city of Rio de Janeiro. She graduated in photography from Ostkreuz Schule für Fotografie, in Berlin (2013), and holds a bachelor's degree in journalism from UniverCidade, Rio de Janeiro (2007). Paula participated in group exhibitions in Berlin, Stockholm, Kuala Lumpur, Moscow and Stuttgart; collaborated in magazines such as Der Maulkorb, Nin, Esthetic Pure and A5 Zine; and was selected for the artistic residency programs Listhus, in Iceland, and Arteles, in Finland. This year, Paula received an Honorable Mention for the series 'Vulnerable sexuality', category Photography series 'Women seen by women', for the 15th Julia Margaret Cameron Award. In 2016, her photo ‘Niagara Falls’ won an Honorable Mention, Fine Arts category, at the Moscow International Photography Award. Her work focuses on the narrative: reports on gender, sexuality and freedom. The photographer seeks the subjectivity of those in front of her, usually friends or acquaintances, and explores everyday life in its composition. She chooses to visually narrate an era, a generation, a way of thinking. Her photography is highly intimate and personal that aims to awaken a dialogue with self-exposure in the media and problematize contemporary issues.
