Born in Munich and influenced by my mother's work as an art-historian, art was a big part of my life from a young age. I had the privilege of seeing masterpieces up-close at the museum where my mother worked as a curator, appreciating countless artworks either hanging up or packed carefully in the archives. The creative process of creating something that transported what an Artist was seeing or feeling fascinated me. As I was never the best painter, photography was a medium I found really appealing. The whole process - from taking the picture to developing it, and finally seeing the picture appear on paper - always felt magical. Luckily all the boarding schools I attended had a darkroom where I was able to experiment with photography. After finishing school, I studied city-planning in London. But when my roommate bought a digital camera and I was able to play with it, I knew that was what I wanted to do. Instead of going to lectures, I started taking photoshop (4.0) courses and saving money to buy my own digital camera. Next, I had the opportunity to study at the Bauhaus in Dessau, where I earned my degree in graphic design and photography. Given its proximity to Berlin, which was just reinventing itself as a city, I knew I had to move there. I started as a freelance photographer for clients like Karstadt, and began exploring the city with my camera.
